Amita has 19 years of experience in Marketing, Sustainable business and Diversity and inclusion across Singapore, London, HongKong and India working with Colgate Palmolive, Unilever and at present the United Nations Global Compact. In her current role as Senior Advisor for the UN Global Compact, she leads strategy development for the UN Global Compact Academy, a knowledge platform that provides learning and tools to businesses to support the delivery of their sustainability objectives. AsHead of Sustainable Business for Unilever SEAA, she accelerated Unilever’s efforts towards a more circular economy through creating a shared ambition of Zero waste to nature for flexibles plastic packaging and mobilizing collection pilots across countries. She also helped deliver business growth through doubling the number of brands with purpose in SEAA tackling health, wellbeing and nutrition. These brands positively impact more than 200 million people in SEAA.
In her previous role as Global Diversity and Inclusion director for six years, she facilitated the development and execution of Diversity and Inclusion strategy across 100 countries in partnership with the Global Diversity Board chaired by Paul Polman. During her tenure, the company became a well-recognized leader in Gender balance winning over 30 awards across geographies. She received the highest internal recognition – Unilever Compass award for her work. She is also the winner of “Leading women in Asia” award from the World Business Council of Sustainable Development for her contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals.
